During the 2019-2020 season when Boland was officiating the home team won ove 60% of the time with consistently more fouls called agains the road team. Home favorites were less successful in close games than blow-outs.

Boland was in the top ten NBA referees with the most incorrect non-calls per game according tot he NBA’s official last two minute report.

Matt Boland has worked 934 regular-season games and one playoff game over 16 seasons as an NBA official. He also officiated the 2016 NBA All-Star Game in Toronto.Prior to joining the NBA, he spent seven years officiating in the CBA, including the 1999, 2000 and 2001 CBA Finals. He also officiated for five years in the WNBA, highlighted by the 2002 and 2003 Finals, as well as two years in the NBA G League, including the 2003 Finals. Boland has five years of USBL officiating experience.
