During the 2019-2020 season when DeRosa is the main official, the home team wins over 52% of the time with a 1.7 point differential, over 219 points per game, under 40 fouls called per game with a pretty even split between home and away teams. When DeRosa is part of the crew, the home team wins 75% of the time with over 5 point differential, slightly over 215 points per game, with over 53% of fouls against the road team.
DeRosa was involved in a memorable reffing mishap during the Portland Trail Blazers – Utah Jazz game on February 7 2020. DeRosa and crew missed an obvious goaltend in the waning seconds of the game to help decide the game’s outcome. Forte and company also missed a huge shot clock error when the clock failed to reset after a missed three pointer in the corner, in essence providing the Blazers an additional possession and helping them close the distance on the road in Utah. DeRosa and the rest of the crew were destroyed on twitter for the mistakes.
JB DeRosa is one of the youngest NBA officials in only his 3rd season. He officiated the NBA G League for five years including to Finals appearances. He also officiated in college in the Horizon, Ohio Valley, Southland, Big South and Atlantic Sun conferences as well as Conference USA and the SEC. He is also the son of former NBA official Joe DeRosa.
