Tendencies & Game Impact

Controversies

Forte was involved in a memorable reffing mishap during the Portland Trail Blazers – Utah Jazz game on February 7 2020. Forte and crew missed an obvious goaltend in the waning seconds of the game to help decide the game’s outcome. Forte and company also missed a huge shot clock error when the clock failed to reset after a missed three pointer in the corner, in essence providing the Blazers an additional possession and helping them close the distance on the road in Utah.

Background

Brian Forte is the son of former NBA referee Joe Forte and has officiated 723 regular-season games, 20 playoff games, and two NBA Finals series. He started his career in the NCAA and spent six seasons in the NBA G League.
